About the role
This position will perform all purchasing duties for the Nottoway Campus, including Piedmont Geriatric Hospital and the Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation. These duties include Contract Officer and Purchasing Agent.
Responsibilities
- Cost-effective and timely procurement of adequate, high-quality goods and services
- Compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, directives, and procedures as set forth by the Commonwealth
- Procurement adhering to the Code of Virginia regulations by ethical staff/conflict of interest policy
- Utilize oral and written communication skills
- Apply negotiation skills
- Deal with the public and managers effectively
- Prioritize tasks
- Use computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite and automated purchasing system
Minimum Qualifications
- Virginia Contracting Associate (VCA), or the ability/eligibility to obtain within 12 months of the start date, is required
- Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO) must be obtained within 24 months of the start date
- Knowledge of, and/or experience in, procurement policies and procedures is required; APSPM, VPPA, Code of Va.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and automated purchasing system is required
Additional Considerations
- Background and/or training in business
- Experience in service contracting
- Experience in public procurement of goods and services
- Experience with the Virginia Public Procurement Act
- Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO)
- Knowledge of and/or experience in negotiation skills used in procurement
- APSPM
