Location: Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Davidson County – Budget and Procurement Division, Nashville, TN. One full-time, on-site position.
About the role
Under general supervision, this senior-level role manages complex procurement projects and may lead or supervise lower-level Procurement Officers. The position ensures compliance with departmental, state, and federal guidelines while optimizing the use of state resources.
Responsibilities
- Manages large-scale procurement projects for the department.
- Partners with stakeholders to identify procurement needs and develop plans to meet deliverables.
- Serves as an expert on departmental procurement practices; trains less experienced Procurement Officers.
- Analyzes purchases to ensure compliance with departmental, state, and federal guidelines; justifies purchases through documentation and budget alignment.
- Writes product specifications for competitive bidding; researches vendors and compares products.
- Identifies and resolves ordering errors; communicates with vendors and staff to address discrepancies, disputes, and grievances.
- Prepares service contracts and screens purchase orders for accuracy and justification.
- Receives supplies, monitors payments and invoices, and follows up on late shipments.
- Prepares records and reports, including letters to vendors, purchase orders, and service contracts.
- Maintains accurate inventories of supplies and equipment; tags state property as needed.
- Monitors contract periods for updates and expirations; ensures correct procedures are followed.
- Researches product specifications and price information to allocate state resources effectively.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and two years of work experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, or a related field.
- Substitution of Experience for Education: Work experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, or a related field may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Substitution of Education for Experience: Relevant graduate-level coursework (e.g., business administration, supply chain management, logistics) may substitute for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis.

Driver Requirements
- A valid driver’s license.

Pay
Monthly: $5,100.00 – $7,646.00
Annually: $61,200.00 – $91,752.00
