Location: Chattanooga, TN – Department of Health, Hamilton County (Southeast Regional Health Office, Community Health Services Division). A criminal background check is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • OR associate’s degree from an accredited college or university plus two years of work experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, or a related field.
  • OR high-school diploma (or equivalent) plus four years of work experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, or a related field.

Substitutions:

  • Each year of relevant work experience may substitute for one year of required education.
  • Each year of relevant additional coursework (business administration, supply-chain management, logistics, etc.) from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of required work experience.

About the Role

Under general supervision, this entry-level position performs routine procurement duties, including purchasing, issuing, storing materials, supplies, and equipment for a state institution or assisting with procurement for a department or major section.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze purchases to ensure compliance with departmental, state, and federal guidelines; document purchase justifications.
  • Conduct vendor research and compare products.
  • Draft product specifications for competitive bidding.
  • Prepare routine service contracts and review purchase orders for accuracy and justification.
  • Receive supplies, monitor payments and invoices, and follow up on late shipments.
  • Prepare records and reports (letters to vendors, purchase orders, service contracts, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate inventories of supplies and equipment; tag state property as needed.

Driver Requirements

Pay

Monthly: $3,631.00 – $4,533.00
Annual: $43,572.00 – $54,396.00
