Procurement & Materials Coordinator – Metal Machining

Key Responsibilities

• Aid in purchasing raw materials and shop components (steel, aluminum, stainless, etc.)
• Send RFQs to approved vendors and assist in comparing pricing and lead times
• Place purchase orders based on production needs and management guidance
• Track and schedule material deliveries to support production schedules
• Maintain Kanban, min/max, or reorder systems for raw materials and shop supplies
• Help ensure material availability to prevent production delays
• Collaborate with production and planning teams to understand material usage and demand
• Maintain purchasing records, inventory counts, and basic vendor information
• Support improvements in ordering processes and material systems
• Communicate with vendors regarding order status and delivery updates

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing, materials, or supply chain (manufacturing preferred, not required)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable using spreadsheets and basic purchasing systems
• Willingness to learn machining materials and shop processes
• Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records
• Good communication skills (email, phone)
• Reliable, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks

Preferred

• Exposure to manufacturing, machining, or shop environments
• Familiarity with basic inventory concepts (reorder points, Kanban, min/max)
• Experience working with vendors or service centers
