Procurement Engineer Coordinator

About the Role

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company are partnering to deliver the first nuclear power reactors in Poland for Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). As the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, Bechtel will provide design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant, as well as construction of the entire facility. This role supports Poland’s nuclear expansion and long-term energy future.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of procurement activities—planning, specification development, material requisitioning, bid evaluation, award, and tracking—ensuring alignment with Bechtel Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), BSAPs, and project-specific requirements.
• Establish and maintain a high-performance engineering–procurement interface by developing processes, clarifying handoffs, resolving technical issues, and ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables that support project procurement schedules.
• Oversee creation and verification of engineering documentation required for procurement, such as technical specifications, datasheets, bills of material (BOM), source evaluation criteria, and quality requirements—ensuring packages meet nuclear-grade expectations.
• Create, maintain, and actively manage procurement-related engineering schedules. Identify risks to schedule performance early, evaluate recovery options, and drive corrective actions in collaboration with project controls and discipline leads.
• Coordinate with Engineering Management, Project Management, Procurement, Construction, Startup, ES&H, and the customer to resolve technical issues, clarify requirements, and maintain alignment with EPC execution priorities.
• Perform and manage work in accordance with relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Develop and track SCAS schedules for approval.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
• Must be authorized to live and work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Prior experience procuring equipment and commodities in a nuclear environment or other high-quality industries (e.g., defense, space).
• Experience leading a team of professional staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a Nuclear Safety work culture.
• Prior experience working on new nuclear power plants and/or AP1000 facilities.

Pay

$123,400 – $178,500 annually. Final salary is determined by education, experience, and qualifications.
