Procurement Category Manager
About the role
Join Silgan’s Procurement Team at our new Innovation Center in Brookfield, WI. Silgan Containers is hiring a Procurement Category Manager to manage strategic sourcing initiatives for over $50 million in spend.
Responsibilities
- Build and implement sourcing strategies across assigned categories to drive measurable value and operational improvements.
- Manage the strategic sourcing process by gathering data, preparing RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs, and evaluating suppliers, and conducting supplier assessments to guide selection.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships, outlining expectations and driving continuous improvement.
- Negotiate, draft, and finalize supply contracts with legal team.
- Maintain supplier qualification, training, and compliance efforts.
- Research and recommend sourcing models including contracts, open market purchases, and outsourcing options.
- Deliver continuous cost reduction and value improvement through quoting, cost modeling, and strategic negotiation.
- Establish sourcing metrics and dashboards to measure supplier performance, savings, and operational outcomes.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to align category strategies with business goals.
- Advance ESG initiatives by partnering with suppliers to implement sustainable practices and drive innovation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in procurement, category management, supply chain, or strategic sourcing, preferably in manufacturing.
- Background in the manufacturing sector with multiple sites or global operations preferred.
- Proven success negotiating complex contracts and managing supplier performance.
- Skilled in total cost of ownership modeling and using data to guide outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel pivot tables and PowerPoint.
- CPM or CPSM certification preferred.
