About the role

This position provides academic, vocational, and other education-related services to youth in institutional facilities, assists in professional consultation to community programs serving DYS youth, and establishes and maintains collaboration with other state and community agencies providing or monitoring education services.

Responsibilities

• Classroom Monitoring, Scheduling and Results Monitoring
• Tutor students on specific classes
• Create and maintain a testing schedule
• Track and monitor tests, testing information, results
• Download reports from tests and various databases
• Work with teachers and staff to create a safe testing environment
• Assist with giving tests orally as needed
• Follow up on next educational data collection required
• Support the MTSS process and data collection
• Provide classroom monitoring when the teacher is away
• Provide specific tutoring
• Assure safety and security issues are understood and addressed

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment
• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics through a formal state or local academic assessment (e.g., ACT WorkKeys)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant years of State service experience
• Experience working with youth

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years old or older
• Full background check and reference check required
• Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Check required
• Travel – Transportation of youth in state vehicles, travel to assigned trainings and/or alternate work sites
• Mandatory annual training in all subject areas

Conditions of Employment:

• Must be a resident of Colorado at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment
• Must have a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License
• Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the DYS Pre-service Training Academy, Field Training Program (FTO) and mandatory annual training in all subject areas
