About the role

Kidango (kidango.org) is an early learning nonprofit dedicated to supporting children's development from birth through kindergarten. We focus on providing safe, nurturing environments and resources to help children thrive, particularly those from low-income families. Our advocacy efforts aim to improve early childhood education policies at various levels.

Responsibilities

• Assists in planning, preparing, and implementing the daily program.
• Plans and prepares the learning environment, and prepares needed materials and supplies.
• Participates in the Desired Results process.
• Maintains the environment in a clean, safe manner.
• Communicates regularly with parents as directed by a supervisor.
• Works under the guidance of an Associate Teacher, Teacher, Master Teacher, or Center Director.
• Ensures the health, safety, and well-being of all children in the agency.
• Serves as a resource for volunteers as needed.
• Attends meetings and participates in professional development activities.
• Maintains confidentiality of children, families, and employees.
• Collaborates with the agency team to support its mission and philosophy.
• Greets children, parents, staff, and guests as needed.
• Assists other centers when requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Master Teacher or Center Director.

Qualifications

• GED/High School Diploma.
• Prior experience working with young children preferred.
• Immunization records compliant with Senate Bill 792 (measles, pertussis, and influenza).
• Mandated abuse reporter certification.
• Completion of 6 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Must pass a health screening and TB test.
• Must pass a background fingerprint clearance.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• The ability to lift up to 30 lbs may be required for some job duties.
