About the role
The Processor at NOVA® Home Loans reviews, analyzes, and prepares mortgage loan files for underwriting and closing. They verify documentation, ensure program eligibility, and maintain compliance with applicable regulations. The role involves communicating with borrowers, internal teams, and external partners to obtain required information and facilitate efficient loan processing.
Responsibilities
- Reviews loan files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
- Verifies accuracy of data entered into the loan origination and related systems.
- Analyzes loan files for program eligibility and guideline applicability.
- Reviews required documentation, including income and asset documentation, credit reports, verifications, appraisals, and preliminary title reports.
- Obtains and reviews accurate Automated Underwriting System (AUS) findings.
- Communicates with borrowers to request additional documentation and review closing figures prior to submission.
- Provides timely and accurate status updates to loan officers, borrowers, and real estate agents.
- Collaborates with loan officers and title companies to resolve discrepancies prior to closing.
- Prioritizes workload to ensure time-sensitive files are processed appropriately and deadlines are met.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Five (5) or more years of loan processing experience, with preference for recent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a customer service environment preferred.
- One (1) to three (3) years of mortgage industry experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations to ensure regulatory and company compliance.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and missing documentation.
- Proficiency with standard computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as mortgage loan origination systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with borrowers, internal teams, and external partners.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
