About the role

Meridian Title is an independent title agency with over 80 years of experience. We are seeking a Title Processor to join our team in either LaPorte or Michigan City offices.

Responsibilities

• Accepts initial orders from Account Managers, reviews Purchase Agreements or Contracts for Sale of Real Estate, and verifies correctness and appropriateness.
• Assists with questions and problems related to title commitments and closing procedures, accepts and requests required documents from parties involved.
• Scans incoming documents within 24 hours and routes them for attachment in processing.
• Initiates actions for outstanding documents or curative items, works to clear title within required timeframe.
• Reviews title commitments for accuracy, verifies information matches customer instructions, and checks taxes.
• Schedules closings with escrow principals and assigns escrow officers or teams to closing files.
• Reviews files for completion, turns them over to escrow officers, and ensures necessary actions are completed.
• Completes actions in ResWare pertaining to processing, reviews and approves general POA documents and deeds.
• Responds promptly to customer inquiries on pre-closing issues, providing complete answers and solutions.

Requirements

• Good working knowledge of computers.
• General understanding of residential real estate transactions, title, and loan closing procedures.
• Strong communication skills and an optimistic, enthusiastic, and professional attitude.
• Knowledge of specific office procedures, company terminology, organizational structure, and area of responsibilities.
• The ability to develop rapport with customers, facilitate independence, accountability, creativity, and professionalism, and maintain confidentiality.
• High school diploma or equivalent with four years of experience in escrow work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A state notary certificate and an active limited license for title insurance by the State where required.
