Processing Utility - 3rd Shift (Starting Wage $28/hr)
About the role
The Processing Utility position operates and sanitizes the Processing Department. This role supervises specific areas of the Conversion Department, supports team leaders, supervisors, and business unit managers, and ensures adherence to safety, quality, cost, and delivery standards.
Responsibilities
- Understands and supports manufacturing processes and interactions between processing functions
- Supports decision-making processes with the Team Leader, Supervisor, and Business Unit Manager
- Initiates corrective actions and reports deviations from production plans, quality, safety, and cost goals
- Fulfills safety, product quality, and hygiene responsibilities (GMP, HACCP, ISO)
- Ensures accurate production data entry and follow-up
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitization of processing equipment and facilities
- Updates and maintains calibration of equipment such as FoodScan, ProcessScan, FT120, and other NIR equipment
- Documents and conducts quality checks including cook sheets, recording charts, temperature charts, and other process documentation
- Completes and documents periodic work for the Processing Department
- Communicates with the Control Room Operator about the cream cheese process
- Ensures compliance with plant rules and policies
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives
- Addresses technical issues related to equipment and automation
- Strives for improvements in cost, safety, quality, and delivery
- Collaborates with other departments for problem-solving and improvements
- Performs duties according to safety requirements
- Lifts up to 50 pounds per NIOSH lifting equation and applies plant-approved safe lifting practices for over 50 pounds
- Works extended hours and workweeks to cover business needs
- Uses digital literacy with knowledge of various software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- Adapts to change and makes decisions independently
- Adheres to Kraft Heinz policies and procedures
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Additional education/certification/skills: Solid understanding of cream cheese technology and manufacturing processes, good understanding of manufacturing cost aspects, proven ability to make decisions, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, digital literacy, proven ability to adapt to change, ability to work extended hours and workweeks
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in manufacturing environment, preferably in the cheese/dairy industry
- Training: Must attend and be current on Confined Space Training annually
