About the role
The Salty Processing Operator, under general supervision, is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of processing machinery.
Responsibilities
- Operates processing equipment to produce product within Quality Assurance guidelines to the highest possible standard of quality.
- Properly mixes ingredients; monitors correct temperature/moisture and makes adjustments; removes improperly formed or overlapped product.
- Operates and shuts down equipment in accordance with established procedures, including changeovers and preventative maintenance.
- Communicates and/or escalates quality issues to appropriate team members.
- Reads and understands batch sheets, follows recipes, and accurately weighs raw materials.
- Monitors and logs current temperatures, mix times, item numbers, and raw material weights (piece weights of extruded product); makes adjustments as needed.
- Monitors for possible foreign matter.
- Follows sanitation procedures for cleanups and changeovers, including chemical handling.
- Tracks and disposes of waste accordingly.
- Moves raw ingredients using material handling equipment, including forklifts and/or pallet jacks.
- Maintains proper raw material levels, unloads raw materials trailers, and updates personnel on raw material needs.
- Maintains inventory usage and proper disposal of cutter blades; secures blades and keeps Urschel Heads running efficiently.
- Tests and receives new oil; treats, filters, and tests used oil; maintains proper oil levels in processing equipment.
- Maintains thorough understanding of heat exchanger system.
- Monitors correct seasoning coverage amount and makes adjustments as needed.
- Adheres to safety and hygiene guidelines, maintains clean work areas, follows safe lifting procedures, and reports defective equipment or job-related injuries.
- May perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and/or 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is quiet in office areas but loud in the plant, requiring hearing protection. The role involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, and occasional exposure to high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat or cold.
Pay
Base rate per hour: $22.50. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
Schedule
1st shift: 6:45 AM – 3:00 PM with overtime as needed based on business needs. Starting times and hours may vary due to coverage requirements, especially during holidays. Good attendance and punctuality are required.
