Job Overview
The Processing Mechanic plays a key role in executing assigned Maintenance tasks. This includes overseeing the maintenance, repair, and optimization of processing equipment, including but not limited to Valves, UHT Systems, tanks, and Pumps.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and execute repair procedures for valves and associated equipment to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of emergency and PM scheduled repairs, follow established procedures, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, including S.Q.F. certification.
- Monitor and manage inventory of valve parts and kits, aligning with repair frequency and ordering supplies as necessary.
- Train and support other technicians, providing guidance on processing work procedures, and occasionally assisting in training outcomes documentation.
- Regularly communicate with maintenance and plant leadership, reporting on completed repairs, equipment issues, and collaborating on maintenance schedules.
- Avoids safety practices, ensure adherence to quality standards post-repair, and maintain a clean working environment.
- Aids and supports all areas in the production facility as assigned by the supervisor/lead and begins to train and build competence in key areas in production, such as fillers, forklifts, and production lines.
- Responsible for gaining competence with online circuits and learning proper hookups in the facility.
- Covers breaks, lunches, and other staffing needs assigned by their supervisor/lead.
- Works safely and promptly reports safety concerns to their supervisor/lead, taking corrective actions as necessary to ensure a safe environment.
- Responsible for reporting food safety problems and initiating action, and for supporting SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality.
Min. Qualifications
- A GED or a High School Diploma is required.
- Technical training or an electrical/mechanical technician degree.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience within the mechanical field.
- Minimum 1 year experience in the repair and rebuild of valves, pumps, and UHT Components.
- Minimum 1 year experience in processing.
- Experience with programmable logic controllers, instruments, and controls.
- A background in food manufacturing is a plus.
