About the role
This position is responsible for supervising assigned personnel, ensuring the quality and safety of food products, maintaining workplace safety, and adhering to production schedules while minimizing food waste and optimizing line efficiencies under the guidance of a Line or Area Supervisor. The role focuses on maximizing personnel use through training, coaching, and feedback.
Schedule
3rd shift: 9:00 PM – 5:30 AM, Monday–Friday, with overtime as needed. A shift differential of $1.50/hour is applied for eligible shifts.
Location: Carson City, NV
Responsibilities
- Maintains a neat, safe, and orderly work area using Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Complies with and audits Company and Plant policies, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Ensures OSHA guidelines are followed and reports unsafe conditions immediately.
- Provides safety training for direct reports, including:
- Forklift certification and recertification
- Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
- Job-specific training
- Plans labor, materials, WIP, and finished goods production for the scheduled shift.
- Completes production auditing through pre-shift hand-offs, LAPs, paperwork verification, and post-shift hand-offs.
- Verifies quality standards (e.g., water activity, bar color, code dating, cartoning quality, weight control) through employee tests and visual inspections, taking corrective action as needed.
- Reduces raw material conversion costs by minimizing food waste, ensuring weight control, and eliminating hold product.
- Controls direct labor costs by maintaining high line efficiencies and first-pass yields.
- Schedules employees to standard levels or below while minimizing overtime.
- Performs set-ups and changeovers using checklists and tools, ensuring change parts are maintained properly.
- Clears all cartons/materials from previous runs to prevent mixing.
- Ensures on-time production to meet customer schedules.
- Develops and posts visual key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, quality, safety, and sanitation.
- Conducts daily "tailgate meetings" to review prior performance and current requirements.
- Assists with shift ERP functions, including inventory accuracy, lot tracking, and work order monitoring.
- Supports Corporate initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing.
- Manages direct reports by providing timely feedback on goals and performance.
- Maintains a motivated, well-trained staff by addressing performance and behaviors.
- Ensures adherence to Nature’s Bakery policies and fosters a positive employee culture.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to follow quality standards, safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
- Adherence to safety, GMP, and efficiency standards.
- Excellent communication and math skills, with the ability to interpret results.
- Mechanical aptitude to identify quality or throughput issues.
- Skill in dismantling, repairing, and maintaining equipment.
- Knowledge of operating hand and power tools used in production.
- Keen attention to detail to ensure quality standards are met.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and schedule machinery and personnel.
- Stamina to work in a brisk environment, minimizing downtime.
