Process Technician -Injection

About the Role

The Process Technician for injection molding is responsible for the safe start-up, shut down, and troubleshooting of the injection molding process during normal production runs. This includes setting up injection molding machines, performing changeovers, collecting and analyzing production and quality data, and facilitating continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Perform tooling changes as per schedule, including setting dryers, thermolators, and processing functions of molding machines, as well as line clearance activities.
• Ensure first piece inspection is complete and product conforms to specifications before releasing the line to full production.
• Monitor running machines, keep process documentation up to date, and make adjustments as required.
• Identify issues related to material, tooling, or machinery and troubleshoot in a safe manner.
• Work closely with shift leadership and maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement efforts for the injection molding process.
• Assist the Process Engineer in achieving molded specifications.
• Sustain and help develop the “5S” program, maintaining a clean and safe work area.
• Perform other activities as directed by supervision.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of all functions of the molding process.
• 2 years’ experience as a process technician or mold setter.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good mechanical skills and the ability to use hand/power tools.
• Understanding of quality and safety practices, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ISO sections relevant to the position.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Capacity to work overtime as needed.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Standing, sitting, walking, use of central and peripheral vision, and hearing (up to continuously).
• Speaking/verbal communication, bending/stooping, twisting neck and torso (frequently).
• Reaching, holding, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting/carrying raw material, finished product, tools, and machinery up to 50 pounds (frequently).
• Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal conditions.
