Position Summary
The Process Technician performs regular rotation through job assignments in all process areas including utilities and the DCS once fully trained. Job duties include:
- Ensure safety and environmental compliance has top priority through the application of established policies and procedures.
- Comprehend and follow regulatory, company, and department Safety and Environmental guidelines, policies, procedures and instructions.
- Detect potential or actual problems and take corrective action to prevent interruption of system operations which could affect safety or product quality or equipment problems.
- Monitor instrumentation and alarms continuously for conditions which could affect process control and take corrective actions to minimize interruption of operating systems.
- Tour assigned area to review equipment operation and record equipment readings
- Input of process additives
- Collection of process samples
- Open and close valves to control flow from raw material tanks and through various pipelines involved in production process.
- Isolate and prepare equipment for maintenance repairs
- Attend scheduled safety training, emergency response training, and employee meetings
Qualifications/Requirements
- Ability to multitask and handle simultaneous assignments
- Ability to work as a team member
- Ability to employ critical thinking skills to troubleshoot process
- Basic Microsoft Computer Skills
- Math skills to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Good mechanical aptitude
- High attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work overtime when required
- Ability to serve on Emergency Response Team
- Ability to push, pull or lift 50 pounds while performing normal unit operations
- Ability to climb vertical ladders
Desirable
- Knowledge of safe work permits
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements
- Prior Chemical or Petrochemical Plant operations experience including Boiler operations
- Previous emergency response experience
- Associates Degree in Chemical Process Technology or 3 years’ experience in petrochemical manufacturing facility/refinery.
