About the Role

The Process Operator position is located in Port Allen, LA at the Shell Catalyst and Technologies, LP, World Scale Hydro-processing Catalyst production plant. The facility includes a Precipitated Alumina Plant, two catalyst extrusion lines, a catalyst impregnation line, and a metals solution formulation system.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure strict compliance with the Company’s safety policies and procedures, taking immediate corrective action for potential issues or unsafe behavior.
  • Provide effective written and oral communications during shift turnover, covering routine and non-routine issues, problems, and unit operating conditions.
  • Monitor and accurately record temperatures, pressures, and flow rates for upward or downward trends.
  • Utilize process control computer interfaces to maintain variables within target rates.
  • Maintain good communications with team members and other facility teams (Utilities, Logistics, etc.).
  • Actively participate in the development and performance of assigned group tasks.
  • Perform unit production quality control checks and analysis.
  • Ensure operations comply with environmentally permitting requirements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and assist in troubleshooting potential issues.
  • Document efforts in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with engineers, maintenance technicians, and other team members to identify maintenance issues and plan scheduling.
  • Use personal computers to meet daily performance expectations and access plant information and procedures.
  • Actively assume personal accountability for meeting the Company’s standards of continuous personal and professional development.
  • Respond to emergencies as part of the Emergency Response Team.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without a work visa.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of current experience as a Process/Production Operator in a catalyst, petrochemical, or refining work environment OR an Associate of Applied Science degree in Process Technology OR relevant military experience (e.g., Aircraft maintenance, Aviation Boatswain Mate, Diesel Mechanic, Fuels/Maintenance Specialist, Petroleum fuels/supply Specialist, Nuclear Mechanic, Plant Operations, Gas Turbine Technician, Machinist, or Power Plant Mechanic/Operator).
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write English fluently and understand operating procedures.
  • Must possess a current, valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation.
  • Willingness to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation.
  • Willingness to work at heights, climb ladders and stairs, walk on high elevation grating, work around loud industrial equipment, and work in confined spaces and outdoors with reasonable accommodations.
  • Willingness to support and comply with Shell’s safety policies and initiatives.
  • Willingness to work in an environment requiring daily use of computers.
  • Willingness to lift 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness to support Shell’s teamwork environment and drug-free work environment, including random drug screenings.
  • Willingness to support Shell’s harassment-free work environment.
  • Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to respond to emergencies as part of the Emergency Response Team, requiring residence within 60 minutes of the site or willingness to relocate without assistance.
  • Willingness to be on call and meet call-out standards for site responsibilities and emergencies.
  • Willingness to support and comply with the company’s diversity and inclusion policies.

An Online Assessment is required for this position. Candidates must complete the assessment and receive a passing score to be considered.

Pay

The rate for this position is $36.58–$48.08 per hour. Individual pay will be based on relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, and internal equity.
