Process Operation Lead

The Column Shift Lead will oversee all production activities under the direction of the Distillation Process Manager; duties include assisting the safe and efficient setup of multiple separation towers and being accountable for site monitoring of pressures, valves, pumps, and hoses.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple process operators across 2 shifts, assigning daily job assignments to employees in their respective area
- Schedule equipment usage and ensure employees are properly trained to perform the essential functions of their roles
- Provide a collaborative/team environment through ongoing coaching and mentoring
- Act as an ambassador and ensure adherence to safe practices and good housekeeping
- Troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise, utilizing all available resources to meet production schedule and productivity goals
- Provide direct and daily feedback to the responsible Supervisor regarding any personnel, equipment, safety, or productivity problems
- Support Planning Lead on providing constant feedstock for the distillation columns and blending final products
- Provide data as required to track the teams' progress towards achieving department and company goals and objectives
- Instruct and train new operators, and perform routine inspection of equipment
- Maintain proper records to avoid efficiency losses and cross-contamination of other products
- Perform routine maintenance tasks as needed/requested, and report any faults, site, and maintenance issues to Maintenance
- Encourage and participate in a Health and Safety culture to ensure a safe practicing environment
- Ensure that quality control is implemented on a constant basis, and personally follow all operational processes and carry out quality control checks
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required
- Ability to obtain EPA 608 Certification within 6-months of employment
- Ability to obtain Forklift certification
- Possess a valid Driver's License
Qualifications
Essential: Process Technology Degree or prior experience in a Process Operator role, excellent math skills, basic mechanical aptitude, Microsoft word/excel required, experience in manufacturing, or specialty gas industry, understanding of basic engineering, warehouse, and environmental services, understanding of distillation and HMI operation of distillation columns
Preferred: Experience with Gas Chromatography, experience with Chemical Blending and Transferring, experience driving ISO/Tanker containers using a Yard Hostler
Physical Demand Requirements
Good physical fitness and able to handle, move and/or lift at least 50 pounds, ability to sit 10% of the day; stand and walk 80-90% of the time, pushing/pulling up to 50% of the time, lifting/carrying from one level to another approximately 20% of the time
