About the role
Re:Build Optimation is seeking a Process & Mechanical Engineer Co-op/Intern to support real-world, client-facing project assignments across our core capabilities and served industries.
Responsibilities
- Support project teams with requirements gathering, concept and preliminary design, process flow diagram (PFD) and piping & instrumentation diagram (P&ID) development, equipment specification and selection, engineering calculations, bill of materials (BOM) creation, materials selection, code and standard review/research, fabrication and assembly support, and troubleshooting
- Develop drawings and schematics using CAD software/tools and process simulation tools
- Assist in the development and writing of technical reports and project documentation
- Work closely with a senior or principal engineer mentor to define and execute personal and professional development goals
- Participate in internal and client project meetings and design reviews
- Collaborate with project managers to plan, manage, and execute tasks
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a BS and/or MS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and personal management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Eager to learn and adapt in a fast-paced engineering environment; naturally curious
- Experience with CAD software/tools; AutoCAD 2D/3D and/or SolidWorks preferred
- Ability to be on-site at our offices in Rochester, NY and/or Rush, NY
- Experience with process simulation tools; ChemCAD preferred
- Prior co-op, internship, or relevant project experience supporting engineering and design of industrial equipment and/or automation solutions is a plus
- Experience working with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems is a plus
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools and methodologies is a plus
- Minimum GPA 3.0 preferred

Spring, Summer, or Fall 2027
Pay
The hourly rate for this position is $21.00 – $25.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location. This role may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives, subject to company plans.
