About the Role
The Process Maintenance & Reliability Technician (PMRT) ensures plant assets operate safely and reliably while maintaining product safety and quality through effective corrective and preventive maintenance. The role also supports the hiring, training, and development of skilled and semi-skilled technicians.
Responsibilities
- Work in accordance with all safety regulations, safe job procedures, standard work processes, BRC food safety initiatives, good manufacturing practices, and product quality requirements.
- Identify training needs for Operators and DWI Technicians, collaborating with the OTL to develop individualized training programs.
- Embody Trivium’s core values and guiding principles, fostering teamwork, respect, and resource stewardship.
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on machinery, including facility and utility systems, manufacturing equipment, tanks, piping, process controls, packaging machines, and mobile equipment.
- Participate in or facilitate failure mode and effects analysis, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities to enhance asset reliability, availability, and quality.
- Test and record data on rotating, pneumatic, and hydraulic control devices, safety systems, and associated equipment.
- Analyze mechanical or operational failures to determine and implement corrective actions, eliminating recurrent issues.
- Assist or lead production with line setups, product changeovers, equipment overhaul, and autonomous maintenance activities.
- Operate machines to test repairs upon completion.
- Develop SOPs and Work Instructions for maintenance tasks and train others.
- Independently troubleshoot equipment with a focus on quality and reliability.
- Support tooling trials and product development initiatives.
- Optimize existing preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and develop new PMs to shift the maintenance program from reactive to proactive, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.
- Support equipment effectiveness (TPM), workplace organization (5S), and GMPs.
- Operate equipment and assist with daily operations as needed.
- Collaborate with suppliers, OEM vendors, and the ATC team to drive continuous process improvement.
- Perform all other assigned job duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred.
- Five or more years of mechanical experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment, with at least two years as a Technician within Trivium preferred.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and proven problem-solving experience.
- Experience supporting production and maintenance of metal packaging materials is a plus.
Work Environment
This position primarily operates on the manufacturing floor and requires:
- Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, and use of hands and fingers for handling.
- Regular reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Occasional work in non-permit required confined spaces (unless otherwise trained).
- Frequent lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds (no continual lifting).
- Close and distance vision, color recognition, and good hand/eye coordination.
- Exposure to very loud noise levels, requiring hearing protection and other assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Temperature extremes ranging from below 40°F to above 90°F.
- Exposure to fumes, dust, and odors.
