About the role

Wieland is hiring a Process Engineering Technician. The Process Engineering Technician will design as a developmental role, supports and improves day‑to‑day operations within the manufacturing facility. This role provides hands‑on engineering support while leading cross‑functional operational excellence support focused on equipment condition, process stability, housekeeping, safety, and continuous improvement. The role works closely with the Process Engineers, Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Safety to drive sustainable performance improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Process Performance & Optimization – Identify, analyze, and eliminate process losses, instability, and inefficiencies to improve safety, quality, cost, reliability, and throughput.
  • Technical Ownership & Change Management – Serve as technical owner for assigned process improvements. Ensure engineering changes are properly tested, validated, documented, approved, and sustained.
  • Equipment Health & Reliability Support – Monitor equipment condition and performance. Partner with Process Engineers, Maintenance and Reliability to resolve chronic equipment issues and improve availability. Support TPM, preventive maintenance, and operator care strategies. Develop, implement, and sustain standard work, visual management, and 6S practices to support long‑term performance stability. Provide hands‑on engineering support during normal operations, abnormal conditions, startups, and shutdowns. Work directly with Process Engineers, operators, supervisors, and support teams to drive effective solutions.
  • Safety, Compliance & Risk Management – Promote a strong safety culture and participate in hazard analyses, incident investigations, and corrective action development. Ensure all engineering and process changes comply with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Performance Tracking & Communication – Track KPIs, action items, and improvement effectiveness. Clearly communicate results, risks, and opportunities to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting production operations and equipment-intensive processes.
  • Proven track record of leading or supporting process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working directly with operators, supervisors, and maintenance teams.
  • Familiarity with process documentation, standard work, and change management.
  • Basic to intermediate data analysis skills (process metrics, trends, KPIs).
  • Experience with commissioning, trials, testing, and validation activities preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to spend significant time on the production floor.
  • Willingness to work alternate shift hours in support of off-shift activities, startups, and shutdowns as needed.
  • Comfortable working in a team-based, safety-critical manufacturing environment.
