Process Controls Engineer
- Own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the control and safety systems for Mote’s modular gasification platform.
- Include field instrumentation, distributed control systems (DCS), safety-instrumented systems (SIS), human-machine interfaces (HMI), data historians, and advanced analytics.
- Reporting to the Director of Process Engineering, this role will also play a key part in developing, commissioning, and operating Mote’s Advanced Testing Center (ATC).
- This role is ideal for a hands-on controls engineer who thrives in first-of-a-kind systems, values safety and rigor, and is excited to apply modern control, data, and optimization techniques to climate-critical industrial processes.
- Hands-on development and delivery of Process Engineering deliverables on projects and proposals.
- Process Engineering scope commonly includes all phases of design development, from conceptual engineering and detailed engineering through startup and plant operations.
- Front End Engineering Design (FEED) activities such as producing and reviewing deliverables (e.g., design basis, PFDs, P&IDs, H&MBs, equipment data sheets, startup and shutdown guidelines, etc.), participating in HAZOP reviews and RAM analyses, and evaluating proposals and bids from vendors and contractors.
- Develop and perform process simulations, configuration studies, and sensitivity analyses.
- Identify and evaluate creative design solutions that optimize Mote’s process, project capital/operating costs, equipment reliability/availability, or project schedule.
- Support R&D activities such as conducting literature search and preparing patent applications.
- Serve as a technical resource for internal and external customers and partners.
- Develop and maintain internal design tools and procedures.
Head of Business Development
- Source and negotiate MOUs, LOIs, and commercial agreements for joint project development, hydrogen offtake, carbon dioxide offtake, and other kinds of partnerships.
- Identify and solicit new business to build and maintain a pipeline of projects.
- Work through company-provided leads to progress existing relationships, ultimately resulting in investment, offtake, project partnerships or other mutually beneficial goals.
- Own the customer relationship from first meeting through contract execution.
- Manage the cadence of meetings, redline contracts, coordinate with internal team (executive, technical, finance, legal) to ensure accuracy in contracts, and lead negotiations with the customer.
- Identify client needs and suggest terms of partnership that are mutually beneficial.
- Prepare tailored term sheets for offtake after consulting with internal finance team.
- Track development and summarize/present key leads for executive team periodically.
- Attend and speak at industry conferences on behalf of the Company to gain exposure and create new contacts.
- Utilize funding and grant opportunities as a platform to further develop new and existing relationships through collaboration on grant applications and grant projects.
