Responsibilities
- Guides team and performs supervisory tasks including scheduling, review and approval of timecards, time-off requests, expense reports, and performance management activities (with support of manager).
- Leads the design, development, and commissioning of control systems using PLCs to meet project requirements.
- Writes and debugs Controls applications to ensure proper functioning of control systems.
- Create Descriptions of Operations for material handling solutions based on customer requirements.
- Manages integration of prototype solutions and creates handover documentation to transition knowledge to Controls Commissioning Engineers.
- Provides support for installed systems, performing preventative maintenance and implementing system upgrades as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Controls-related field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.
- Ten (10) or more years of hands-on Controls Engineering experience, preferably in material-handling, industrial, or warehouse environment.
- Robust knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems.
- Thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, with the ability to read e-drawings and AutoCAD drawings.
- Prior experience in formal or informal leadership roles.
Qualifications
- Experience with control systems design and implementation.
- Knowledge of material-handling, industrial, or warehouse environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Skills
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as Ladder Diagrams, Structured Text, etc.
- Experience with HMI software and interfaces.
- Understanding of industrial automation standards and protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
