Duties
- Create and implement standards and strategies to improve process efficiency
- Lead teams responsible for various engineering or technical assignments
- Design and review instrumentation and automation systems associated with heavy industry processing plants
- Engineer and design network diagrams, loop diagrams, P&ID control depictions, Controls Narrative, and Cause and Effect
- Design process control systems and strategies
- Design, implement, and optimize process network infrastructure and automation processes through modern process control systems
- Program and configure PLC/HMI/DCS/SCADA systems
- Troubleshoot equipment and process controls
- Provide hands-on support for commissioning/start-up activities
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a similar engineering field.
- Experience: 60 months of experience working as a Process Controls Engineer or related occupation.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license (or be eligible to obtain one within 30 days of the date of hire).
- Must have an acceptable driving record.
- Must have demonstrably excellent working knowledge of: (a) complex engineering or application of technology; (b) interpretation of P&ID’s; (c) understanding of process control loops including valve, pump, and instrumentation characteristics (Flow, Pressure, Level, Density, Temperature, pH, and Analyzers); (d) Proficient with reading and understanding PFDs, P&IDs, Loop Diagrams, I/O Schematics, ISA Instrument Datasheets, Control Narratives, and Cause and Effects; (e) plant commissioning and start-up; (f) Allen Bradley and/or Siemens and/or Modicon PLC’s; (g) DeltaV and/or Honeywell and/or ABB DCS; and (h) NEC, NFPA, PSM, MSHA, IEC 61131/61508, and ISA codes and standards.
- Must have demonstrably excellent ability to: (a) communicate, including technical writing, daily reporting, presentations, etc.; (b) express an independent opinion, be resilient to change, and recognize impact of decisions on others; (c) troubleshoot; and (d) follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the function of the job under minimal supervision.
- Must have demonstrated ability to: (a) be the lead over a group of highly qualified professionals engaged in complex engineering or technology applications; (b) understand mineral processing and oil and gas processes; (c) understand material flow balances and energy balances; (d) write PLC/DCS logic and HMI/DCS configuration; and (e) identify defects and deficiencies with purpose of providing remediation (Punch list management).
