Responsibilities
- Directly work with operators on the shop floor to solve tactical day-to-day improvement projects
- Assist Corporate Manufacturing Engineering and Senior Process Engineers with larger projects as required
- Author and maintain work instructions for the shop floor
- Maintain MES system data in plants where applicable (work instructions, material consumption etc.)
- Maintain PFMEAs under supervision of Senior Process Engineer and assist Quality in maintenance of Control Plan
- Participate in Root Cause – Corrective Action exercises for defects that occurred in their assigned area
- Serve as a technical liaison between Production Engineering and Operations
- Aid in manufacturability studies with Production Engineering and Corporate “Core” Engineering
- Purchase of hand tools and small equipment in support of improvement projects
- Design of shop aids and small tooling in support of improvement projects
- Own the process and collaborate with Corporate Manufacturing Engineering on the execution of manufacturing pilots and manufacturing trials to support new product and new process designs
- Train operators on any new processes and process changes
- Collaborate with Operations Supervisors to guide training, both new employees and recurring training in assigned area
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience: 3-8 years of manufacturing experience
- Skills: Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems; Ability to lead a team of Process Engineers; Experience in a manufacturing environment; Experience with development and management of PFMEA and Control Plans; Experience with manufacturability studies; Extensive experience with drafting and maintaining work instructions; Experience with 2D drafting and 3D modelling (AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.); Strong communication and organizational skills; Ability to effectively communicate with plant management and operators; Experience with new product development a plus; Analytical problem-solving skills; Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles, industry certifications a plus (Lean Specialist, Green Belt, Black Belt, etc.)
