Process Engineer (Quinnesec, MI)
Qualifications
- Minimum Required Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science or other related field.
- Possess strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to interact with a wide variety of people including regulators, consultants, contractors, managers, and the public.
- Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Preferred Skills:
- 3-7 years’ experience, preferably in pulp and paper making, power, or manufacturing.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and motivate teams, drive change, and interact cross-functionally.
- Skilled in process management.
- A commitment to safety demonstrated by performance, action, and involvement.
Personal qualities
Provide high-quality process support and technical leadership to the mills operations group resulting in improved product quality, productivity and reduced costs.
Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects by conducting trials including development of trial plans and authoring trial reports.
Improve product quality while implementing cost and variability reduction initiatives.
Develop manufacturing specifications for new grades through pilot coater and machine evaluations.
Reduce environmental impact, troubleshoot environmental concerns, and work on environmental initiatives.
Provide technical support for operations department as well as supporting departments (Accounting, purchasing, environmental, maintenance and engineering, etc)
Execute data dives and data analysis that demonstrates strong problem solving and analytical skills and implement action plan with guidance from area management.
Assist with machine shutdowns and start up
Integrate safety leadership into daily activities.
Assist in day-to-day trouble shooting that can negatively impact machine performance and quality.
Provide on-call and weekend duty coverage within a designated rotation
Summary Description
Process Engineers are responsible for working with Operations, Operations management, and operational support groups to optimize system performance in the areas of quality, machine efficiency, product development, and cost. Work activities will be a mix of on the floor troubleshooting and data analysis.
