Process Engineer - Mechanical
About the role
The Process Engineer - Mechanical will be responsible for taking projects from conceptual planning to bid-ready documents under the direction of Senior Process Mechanical Engineers. This may include facility and equipment layouts, design calculations, equipment vendor coordination, management and coordination of support discipline activities, and coordination with regional offices and regulatory agencies as well as performing quality reviews of other teams’ designs.
Responsibilities
- Design of water and wastewater treatment processes
- Support of water and wastewater process evaluation, selection, and implementation
- Pump selection and pump station design
- Chemical storage and feed system design
- Blower sizing and blower system design
- Mechanical equipment selection
- Piping and instrumentation drawing production
- Specification and Contract document preparation
- Support of construction projects
- Oversee the development of construction drawings, and 3D models
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or biosystems/biological engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 5 or more years of direct design experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Strong communication skills as required to collaborate project designs with multi-discipline project teams
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook
Preferred Attributes
- Master's degree in civil, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or biosystems/biological or related engineering discipline
- Design experience of lift stations, booster pump stations, and water treatment processes
- Experience working with and leading a multi-disciplinary team comprised of civil, structural, building mechanical, electrical, and Instrumentation and control disciplines
- Active participation in local professional organizations
