Process Engineer II/III

The Process Engineer II/III position within Marathon Petroleum Company's Illinois Refining Division in Robinson, IL, plays a crucial role in process performance monitoring and improvement.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and updates process documentation.
• Monitors process performance and identifies opportunities for improving yield, energy efficiency, and reliability.
• Assists in planning test runs and developing projects to address identified opportunities.
• Supports collaboration with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve operational challenges.
• Develops relationships with console and field operators.
• Supports hazard evaluations, incident investigations, and management of change.
• Participates in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
• Supports turnaround/outage execution, including reviewing turnaround planning and post-event evaluations.
• Troubleshoots and maintains unit mass balance within tolerance.
• Participates in technology advisory groups.

Requirements

• Minimum (Required) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering; two (2) years or more of experience in process engineering within refining, petrochemical, or related industries; valid driver’s license; ability to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery and perform field tasks; ability to support internal equipment inspections – confined spaces and elevated work.
• Preferred Qualifications: Four (4) years or more of experience in process engineering within refining, petrochemical, or related industries.

Pay

$106,900.00 - $184,300.00

Schedule

• Full-Time: 5 days in the office per week, 8 hours per day.
• Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day work-from-home per week, 8 hours per day.
• 3/4 Time: 9 hours Monday-Thursday in the office, with every other Friday off.
