Process Engineer III
Volt is hiring a Process Engineer (Continuous Improvement Leader) in Fairfield, OH.
About the role
Lead the continuous improvement strategy for the entire process, from tendering to delivery, covering both Front-end and Core operations. Drive operational process improvements based on performance, challenge and follow Kaizen events, and occasionally lead them. Serve as the plant’s point of contact for IPM and the global smart factory leader, deploying smart factory solutions. Define and execute yearly productivity action plans, ensuring Direct Labor Productivity targets are met. Report productivity using standard tools and foster transversal collaboration to sustain and enhance the Production System (PS) level in the plant. Build manufacturing excellence skills across all factory levels, manage Value Stream Mapping (current and future states), and reduce Product Lead Time through cross-functional action plans. Implement key PS concepts such as green/red systems, line architecture, Short Interval Management, and Material Providing & Handling.
Responsibilities
- Oversee continuous improvement of operational processes in the plant.
- Challenge, follow, and occasionally lead Kaizen events.
- Deploy smart factory solutions as the plant’s primary contact for IPM and global smart factory initiatives.
- Define and track yearly productivity action plans to achieve Direct Labor Productivity targets.
- Report Direct Labor Productivity using standard tools and processes.
- Ensure transversal collaboration to sustain and improve the Production System (PS) level in the plant.
- Develop manufacturing excellence skills at all levels in the factory.
- Manage plant Value Stream Mapping (current and future states) and lead efforts to reduce Product Lead Time.
- Implement PS principles, including green/red systems, line architecture, Short Interval Management, and Material Providing & Handling.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a relevant field.
- Extensive experience with Lean Manufacturing Tools (5S, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, Visual Management, Kaizen, etc.).
- 4+ years of experience with Production Systems (e.g., Toyota Production System or similar).
- Experience with Agile Methodologies and Project Management.
- Ability to set priorities and develop action plans to drive results.
- Experience leading cost-saving projects in a manufacturing plant.
- Background in industrial mechanical and/or electrical assembly.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with change management principles and driving the change process.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Pay
$48–$52 per hour. Pay range is based on factors such as education, work experience, location, job duties, and certifications.
