About the Role

As our Process Engineer, you will support all cabling processes in operations, including twisting, bunching, and planetary type cabling equipment. The role involves working with extrusion processes utilizing materials such as PVC, TPE, TPU, Nylon, Polyurethane, Fluoropolymers, and Cross-Linked Polyethylene over copper wire gauges ranging from 4/0 down to 44 awg. These cable products serve industrial, multimedia, data-com, medical, military, and alternative energy markets.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in bulk cable and/or cable assembly.
• Bachelor of Science in engineering (Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical, or Material Science) from an accredited college or university; 3.0+ GPA preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of bulk cable and cable assembly design, materials, components, processes, and electrical/mechanical testing and regulatory approvals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, AutoCAD, Access database navigation, and strong written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Accountability

• Identify high-impact opportunities to improve extrusion and cabling process utilization and efficiencies, driving improvements to completion with validated financial impact.
• Improve overall quality by reducing raw material process losses and driving enhancements to completion with validated financial impact.
• Prioritize and implement production improvement objectives to deliver cost savings, improve quality, enhance safety, and support new product introduction on schedule in a team environment.

Collaboration

• Work directly with design engineering and suppliers to develop innovative engineered process solutions, ensuring alignment between machine capability, materials, and customer requirements.
• Contribute as a thought leader in implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques to streamline production and maximize efficiencies.
• Collaborate with internal and external suppliers of materials, equipment, and services to execute projects, resolve problems, and improve processes.
• Work with project engineers to identify new technologies or equipment modifications to increase productivity and reduce waste, supported by documented justifications, ROI analysis, and proper project/capital requests.

Empowerment

• Support development engineering in new product development by assessing capabilities and gaps versus upcoming products, ensuring gaps are addressed during product design.
• Identify insufficient processes or equipment and suggest improvement or replacement opportunities to assist with investment planning.
• Select, design, and modify tooling, fixtures, and equipment to improve safety, quality, throughput, and productivity.
• Develop annual goals and objectives for process improvement and manage implementation of the process improvement strategy.
• Analyze production trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Write, perform, analyze, and report on validations to support new and/or improved processes.
• Participate in developing and applying training procedures for machine operators on new equipment installations, modifications, and new or revised SOPs.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 plus incentive compensation. Exact salary will be contingent upon experience, education, skills, and other factors considered relevant.
