About the role
The Process Engineer at Molex will develop and improve manufacturing processes, support existing processes, and troubleshoot equipment and process issues. The role involves designing and setting up processes, leading feasibility studies, and collaborating with various teams including project managers, applications engineers, design engineers, and automation teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and set up manufacturing processes to support new product development, including material selection, new material evaluation, and feasibility studies.
- Lead feasibility studies, proof-of-concept trials, and pilot-scale experiments to evaluate and refine proposed process solutions, with a focus on improving manufacturing readiness.
- Support existing manufacturing processes through problem solving, optimizing, and upgrading.
- Investigate and recommend equipment modifications and acquisitions to align with business goals.
- Collaborate with design engineering and production teams to execute on prototype and pre-production builds while analyzing essential process data.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and control plans.
- Monitor and maintain manufacturing data to support ongoing yield, cost, and quality analyses.
- Develop training materials and coach manufacturing staff on the adoption of new process concepts and best practices.
- Understand, support, and contribute to current Six Sigma, ISO, and EH&S Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Materials, or related field).
- Three (3) years or more experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
- Experience with screen printing, roll-to-roll / sheet-based manufacturing processes, or new process development.
- Experience implementing new manufacturing methods, including training others to execute a process.
- Mechanical and process aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues and ability to identify improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
- Five (5) years or more experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
- Direct experience with screen printing in a roll-to-roll or sheet based manufacturing process.
- Direct experience with printed and/or flexible electronics manufacturing.
- Experience performing machine and/or process qualification, RCA, MSA, etc.
- Experience using CAD.
