About the role
WD is seeking a motivated Process Engineer to join our wafer manufacturing team. This role is ideal for engineers who are passionate about semiconductor manufacturing and processing, development, data analysis, and solving complex technical challenges. As a member of the Manufacturing Process Engineering team, you will work alongside experienced engineers, technicians, equipment specialists, and cross-functional partners to develop, optimize, and sustain advanced processes—such as electroplating, wet etch, liftoff, and lithography—used in high-volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and sustain advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes, including electroplating, wet etch, liftoff, and lithography.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, equipment specialists, and cross-functional partners to solve complex technical challenges in high-volume manufacturing.
- Analyze process data to identify trends, improve yield, and ensure process stability.
- Participate in structured onboarding, mentorship, and career development opportunities as part of WD’s early career program.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, microfabrication, research laboratories, or other technology-focused environments.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Experience with data analysis tools such as JMP, Python, SQL, Minitab, SAS, MATLAB, or similar platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, learning agility, and ownership of assigned projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, research, or manufacturing experience in semiconductor processing or wafer fabrication.
- Familiarity with cleanroom environments and semiconductor manufacturing practices.
- Knowledge of micro/nano fabrication and cleaning processes such as wet chemical etch, photoresist strip, liftoff, eco-snow, and electroplating.
- Exposure to photolithography concepts such as photoresist coating, exposure, development, overlay, and critical dimension control.
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Advanced Process Control (APC).
Pay
The salary range for this role is based on factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, internal and external equity, and business needs. The range provided is applicable for jobs performed in California, Colorado, New York, or remote roles that can be performed in these states. If the position is non-exempt, you may be eligible for overtime pay and shift differential, depending on your assignment.
