About the role
The Process Engineer of INEOS KOH provides technical support and problem-solving skills to the plant team on manufacturing issues affecting Safety, Health, Environment (SHE), Quality, Operations, and Maintenance. The role focuses on medium to long-term continuous improvement efforts while also serving as a technical resource for day-to-day inquiries.
Responsibilities
- SHE (Safety, Health, Environment):
- Participate in SHE reviews (e.g., Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, Management of Change, Process Hazard Analyses).
- Report incidents, near misses, and hazard identifications, and lead investigations with sustainable actions.
- Maintain knowledge of INEOS safety rules and ensure compliance with established guidelines (IGGN).
- Promote the INEOS 20 Principles.
- Performance indicators: On-time safety and cybersecurity training, annual near-miss reporting, and 60-second check forms.
- Process Optimization:
- Resolve technical issues in plant operations and communicate solutions for execution.
- Write and review operating procedures and provide training.
- Train plant personnel on existing and new processes.
- Provide problem-solving support to operations and maintenance teams.
- Identify and recommend solutions for process, production, and quality technical issues.
- Determine optimal operating conditions for safe, cost-effective, and quality production.
- Maintain operating envelopes.
- Performance indicators: Delivery against annual objectives, operating reliability, and process safety management compliance.
- Projects:
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor internal projects from inception to completion.
- Ensure projects meet goals, objectives, and client-satisfaction targets within time and budget constraints.
- Prepare and present capital approval funding requests.
- Review project status and budgets.
- Coordinate operational aspects of projects with operations, maintenance, and contractors.
- Determine project feasibility and recommend requirements for management approval.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and designs for functionality, cost, and timing.
- Develop project and process documentation and reports.
- Supervise installation of engineering projects per requirements.
- Coordinate and review contractor/vendor activity while maintaining company standards.
- Leverage plant resources to deliver project results.
- Performance indicators: Deliver assigned projects on time and on budget.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing facility.
Skills
- Technical Skills:
- Proven ability to analyze complex technical issues and propose practical solutions.
- Experience driving continuous improvements in process industries.
- Competency in Microsoft software; ability to learn additional applications as required.
- Excel and AutoCAD expertise preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documents.
- Understanding of SHE laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Previous experience in a PSM-regulated plant preferred.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and investigative processes.
