Process Engineer

About the role

This position reports directly to the Process Engineering Supervisor and involves both general and specific duties within the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean all assigned work areas after completion of work according to 5S standards.
• Maintain proper radio etiquette when using company radios, PA systems, and/or phones for business use only.
• Maintain professionalism when representing the company.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Initiate machine processes, make adjustments within process tolerance, and recommend changes for improved efficiencies.
• Monitor all processes related to machinery to ensure optimal efficiency (e.g., Jenoptik laser cutting, Urethane (soft foam molding), Waterjet, Vacform, Vibration welders, secondary equipment, punch press, paint line, Fanuc and ABB robotics, sonic welder).
• Participate in analyzing and resolving process, equipment, and tool issues.
• Assist in the setup and start-up of new tools, equipment, and resins for trials.
• Assist with the setup and maintenance of equipment, including but not limited to Waterjet, Vacform, Vibration welders, secondary equipment, punch press, paint line, robotics, and sonic welder.
• Assist machine operators in troubleshooting as required.
• Monitor product regularly for acceptable quality and adherence to the most current specifications.
• Ensure process parameters are followed and troubleshoot engineering/equipment-related issues for the entire facility.
• Work with limited supervision and maintain cooperation among and between shifts and departments.
• Train and oversee Process Technicians on each shift.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience in engineering, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
• Experience with processing and excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Strong computer and communication skills.
• Ability to pay attention to detail.
• Experience with urethane and robotics is preferred.

Training

This position may require travel to other facilities or training locations, as well as on-site training as needed.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand on feet for 8-12 hours a day.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and 40 lbs regularly.
• Ability to perform overhead work as well as work below the waist.

• Use of eye protection and hearing protection.
• Any additional PPE specific to the task being performed.
