About the Role
The Food and Beverage Process Engineer leads the design, development, and optimization of food and beverage equipment and systems. They work closely with customers to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet regulatory standards and enhance efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the SME on food and beverage-based systems and processes, including ingredient transfer using pneumatic and mechanical conveying, mixing and blending, and skid-based liquid process systems.
- Led the design, specification, and development of conveying systems, mixing and blending systems, liquid process skidded systems, and related components.
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent across the organization.
- Conceptualizes product ideas directly with customers using sound design principles with a focus on design for manufacturability.
- Supports sales, estimates, and customer discussions to assist in the development of project proposals.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to process control systems, food safety regulations, process flow, and system performance.
- Delivers product specifications, calculations, recommendations, and procedures to the project team for production purposes.
- Creates and maintains engineering documentation, process specifications, and validation protocols.
- Provides technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and project managers.
- Maintains a positive attitude and promotes a "team" approach throughout the organization.
- Ensures a favorable company image is presented to customers and that all customer relationships are based on honesty and integrity.
- Up to 20% travel may be required as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Food Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in food and beverage systems engineering, preferably within a manufacturing or R&D environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations, such as FDA, USDA, or HACCP.
- Familiarity with process control systems and manufacturing equipment.
- Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols.
- Knowledge of materials compatibility in food and beverage environments.
- Understanding of food plant design and layout.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling software and report writing programs.
- Excellent communication and technical writing abilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $105,000 to $150,000 annually.
