About the Role

The Grand Island Central School District is seeking a Probationary Science Teacher to join our team at Grand Island High School. The successful candidate will teach high school Biology and/or Earth & Space Science, with a focus on differentiating instruction and improving student achievement.

Responsibilities

• Teach high school Biology and/or Earth & Space Science
• Use authentic and traditional assessments to differentiate instruction
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve student achievement
• Maintain a positive and effective classroom management environment

Qualifications

• New York State Certified Teacher in Earth Science 7-12, Chemistry 7-12, or Biology 7-12; dual certification preferred
• Experience teaching high school Biology and/or Earth & Space Science
• Familiarity with the current New York State Science Learning Standards
• Evidence of academic success at undergraduate and/or graduate levels
• Strong work ethic and commitment to the school's mission and vision
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with high school science curriculum development
• Experience with data-driven instruction and delivery of academic intervention services for science
