Probationary 1.0 Science Teacher

About the role

Full-time (1.0 FTE) probationary teaching position at Grand Island High School. Daily schedule: 7:25 am – 2:25 pm.

Responsibilities

• Teach high-school Biology and/or Earth & Space Science in alignment with the New York State Science Learning Standards.
• Use authentic and traditional assessments to differentiate instruction and improve student achievement.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, data-driven instruction, and academic intervention services.
• Maintain positive and effective classroom management.

Requirements

• New York State Initial or Professional Teacher Certification in Earth Science 7-12, Chemistry 7-12, or Biology 7-12; dual certification in two or more sciences preferred.
• Experience teaching high-school Biology and/or Earth & Space Science.
• Familiarity with the current New York State Science Learning Standards.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to the district’s mission and vision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Evidence of academic success at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

Qualifications (desired)

• Experience developing high-school science curriculum.
• Experience with data-driven instruction and delivery of academic intervention services in science.

Pay

Starting salary: $49,447 (BA Step 1) or $52,190 (MA Step 1) per the GITA contract.
