Responsibilities

• Investigates offender's home/work/social environments for circuit courts/Parole Board
• Collects/verifies/evaluates data and incorporates into reports and records
• Affirms needs/risk levels to determine appropriate supervision strategies
• Sends reports to designated legal authorities
• Contacts offenders in their homes, places of employment or confinement and counsels them regarding personal/adjustment problems
• Attends court to receive court assignments/make reports
• Aids in vocational/educational/social adjustment planning for assigned offenders
• Cooperates with public/private agencies and law enforcement agencies
• Investigates offender violations and takes appropriate action including issuing warrants
• Prepares statistical reports of activities
• Administers/observes breathalyzer/urinalysis testing
• Aids in special investigations/research projects/other activities
• Serves on committees/task forces within the Department and community
• Performs other related work as assigned

Requirements

• Four or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant or above within the Missouri Department of Corrections
• Four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework/custody, law enforcement, guidance/counseling, mental health, health, substance use, public/business administration, or experience closely related to the listed responsibilities
• Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license
• Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year

Pay

• $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility
• $0.75 per hour medium security or $1.50 maximum security differential if you work full-time at a qualifying facility
• $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility

Schedule

• The Department of Corrections offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years
