About the Role
The Mobile Unit RN/LPN provides support and care to patients while maintaining professional standards of care, following the ANA Code of Ethics. Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Director of Operations, the RN works in conjunction with the Medical Director to deliver medical, nursing, and psychosocial care to abortion-vulnerable and abortion-minded women in Fort Myers, FL.
Mission: We believe that the Lord has given us a specific and narrow mission. We are called to use the medical clinic model to save babies and help moms. Since 1974, our mission has been to save babies from abortion by providing care, compassion, and choices to the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Works effectively with Nurse Manager, staff, and volunteers to implement and communicate the organization’s mission, philosophy, and principles.
- Stays current with legislative, regulatory, social, and community developments relevant to the organization’s purposes.
- Ensures personal activities align with the organization’s philosophy and principles.
- Provides nursing care, including assessing patient needs and making nursing judgments that reflect safe practices.
- Obtains patient medical and psychosocial history, identifying concerns that may make carrying a baby to term difficult.
- Identifies patients needing emergency or immediate care based on nursing assessment.
- Identifies abortion-minded and highly abortion-vulnerable patients.
- Performs and interprets urine pregnancy tests according to manufacturer guidelines and documents in CLIA log.
- Counsels and assists patients in developing a care plan to bring the baby to term based on physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Collects urine samples for STI testing and reports results to patients, doctors, and the Department of Health per protocol.
- Maintains accurate records, care plans, and follow-through on physician’s orders.
- Ensures accurate implementation of physician’s orders and advises physicians of patient progress or changes in condition.
- Assists ultrasound technologists with exams.
- Provides education on fetal development, pregnancy, adoption, abstinence, STD risks, and abortion procedures/risks.
- Oversees patient follow-up per care plan and standardizes procedures.
- Provides ongoing emotional and practical support to high-risk patients.
- Pursues additional knowledge of current medical and psychological information relevant to duties.
- Attends medical conferences and in-service training as recommended by the Nurse Manager.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Nurse Manager or Director of Operations.
Requirements
- Sincere desire to reach out to abortion-vulnerable and abortion-minded women.
- Consistent life-affirming philosophy; never refers or advises a woman to have an abortion.
- Dependable, stable, and capable of following through on commitments.
- Current, unrestricted nursing license in good standing under Florida law.
- Current BLS certification.
- Must pass clinical competencies through demonstration of skills by a preceptor and competency quizzes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual (helpful but not required).
- Full agreement with the organization’s governing documents and policies, particularly its philosophy and principles.
Pay
$30.00 – $35.00 per hour
