The consultant will work from ADUD's existing website and staging environment, approved brand assets and finalized organizational content.
Project Scope
- Review adud.org, the current staging environment, hosting configuration, content-management system, plugins, themes, forms and third-party integrations.
- Identify functional, usability, accessibility, security, performance, content-governance and maintenance gaps.
- Confirm the approved audience groups, website objectives, site map, navigation and launch priorities with ADUD leadership.
- Create an agreed implementation plan, schedule, dependency list and launch-readiness checklist.
Design and Development
- Implement a professional, mobile-responsive design consistent with ADUD's approved visual identity.
- Build or refine approved page templates and reusable content components.
- Create or refine an appropriate digital home for The Voice of the African Diaspora® and related newsroom or publication content.
- Configure approved donation, volunteer, contact, newsletter-subscription and partnership-inquiry pathways.
- Apply foundational search-engine optimization, metadata, sitemap and structured content practices.
- Improve page speed, image handling and front-end performance within the available hosting environment.
- Apply practical accessibility measures, including keyboard navigation, readable contrast, heading structure, labels and alternative text workflows.
- Configure appropriate spam protection, backups, update procedures and basic security hardening within the approved platform.
- Implement analytics and measurement tools approved by ADUD.
Content Migration and Publishing
- Place and format ADUD-approved content within the final site structure.
- Migrate or archive approved legacy content without creating unnecessary duplication.
- Create reusable page, article, program, event and publication templates where appropriate.
- Coordinate with the Managing Editor and Documentation Coordinator when content requires editorial or organizational review.
- Establish a simple content-review, approval and publishing workflow for authorized ADUD users.
Expected Deliverables
- A written website and technical-environment assessment.
- An approved site map, navigation plan and implementation work plan.
- A functioning, responsive website completed first in the staging environment.
- Reusable page and content templates consistent with ADUD's approved brand and content structure.
- Configured and tested approved forms, links and third-party integrations.
- Foundational accessibility, search-engine optimization, performance and security improvements.
- A content-migration and legacy-content disposition record.
- A pre-launch quality-assurance and acceptance-testing report covering desktop, tablet and mobile use.
- A documented backup, update, administrator-access and routine-maintenance procedure.
- Administrator training and a concise website-management handoff guide.
- A launch and rollback plan approved by ADUD before production deployment.
- Up to two weeks of limited post-launch stabilization support for defects arising from the delivered work, subject to mutual agreement.
Acceptance Criteria
- The website functions across current major desktop and mobile browsers.
- Navigation, forms, downloads and approved integrations have been tested successfully.
- No placeholder content, broken links or unapproved draft material remains at launch.
- Authorized ADUD personnel can update routine content without developer assistance.
- Administrator credentials, source files, configuration details and documentation remain under ADUD control.
