PRN RN - TIER 3

Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System is a 170-bed hospital serving an eight-county region in East Tennessee’s Lakeway Area. About the role

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines. In this position, RNs must commit to working hours set by the Tier 3 commitment agreement.

Responsibilities

RNs with less than 1 year of Nursing experience will:

• Complete nursing history and initiate patient education.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
• Implement plan of care appropriate to diagnosis.
• Evaluate care outcomes.
• Problem solve and coordinate unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
• Introduce new employees/students to unit routines.
• Participate on unit-based committees.
• Demonstrate competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
• Supervise LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
• Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Complete required education assignments annually.
• Work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties above, RNs with 1 or more years of experience are required to:

• Correlate patient history and support systems within hospital care/nursing home care.
• Assess learning needs of patient and family.
• Develop and initiate plan of care, involving patient and family.
• Recommend interventions.
• Evaluate plan of care.
• Resolve problems regarding moderately complex issues without oversight or supervision.
• Demonstrate willingness to precept employees/students as directed.
• Review clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor.

Requirements

• Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN license.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience: New graduate, within first (1st) year of orientation.
