PRN RN - Acute Care Neurology and Cardiac Telemetry

The 8100 Family Practice Unit at Akron General is a 29-bed high-acuity, fast-paced, Neuro/Cardiac Telemetry unit with patients that require extensive ADL assistance. Caregivers in this unit care for patients with strokes, pneumonia, FTT, weakness, confusion, sepsis, PEG care, central lines, multiple antibiotic therapies, blood transfusions, IV push/cardiac drip medications and tracheostomy care. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. All the while, you will gain valuable experience that can lead to other roles within the ICU or specialty areas and have the opportunity to take part in shared governance, be involved in research and obtain additional certifications.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
- Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association
