Responsibilities

  • Understand and adhere to the National EMR Policies and Procedures Manual, Uniform Handbook, and Operations Manual.
  • Foster a culture that encourages team members to work safely, identify potential hazards, and report safety concerns immediately to their direct chain of command.
  • Maintain active status within the agency’s platforms, including learning management systems to complete training that may be directed toward self-improvement, mission-specifics, or Just-In-Time (JIT) training.
  • Implement, collaborate and monitor established health care plans for service population at the site(s) as prescribed by an advanced practice provider or physician and applying best practice nursing guidelines.
  • Review, write and update medical protocols and procedures in collaboration with Medical Services Division and Residential Services Division Professional Management Team.
  • Initiate medical services provided to service population to ensure services meet all state, federal and program requirements and clinic setting remains safe and sanitary at all times.
  • Validate the completion of all nursing duties relevant to this position in compliance with all regulatory authorities, and program protocols including, but not limited to, active and ongoing nursing assessments, charting, scheduling of appointments, routine observations, isolation observations, wellness checks, immunizations, daily, monthly and yearly reports, yearly, progress notes, initial and annual reports.
  • Supervise, direct and oversee site medical staff to execute medical services reflected in healthcare plans and treatment orders, including medication administration, to ensure that all treatment orders directed by physician or midlevel provider are implemented as ordered and immediately upon request.
  • Communicate with pharmacies on ordering prescription medications, check medication deliveries for accuracy and compliance with doctor’s orders and remediate any discrepancies.
  • Effectively communicate, consult and interact with the Medical Director and Medical Services Administrator on policy and procedure issues affecting the quality of health care services on campus and issues of contagious disease control when any child on campus is ill with a contagious disease.
  • Maintain adequate over the counter medication supplies for each service population facility and arrange proper disposal of unused and expired medications.
  • Oversee the development of the medication administration record (MAR) for each client. Audit MARs. Arrange the transport of children to health care appointments.
  • Maintain documentation of controlled drugs that may be available to include up to date reconciliation of all scheduled drugs used in the facility through facility’s protocols and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Adhere to acceptable standards of professional integrity and accountability in the workplace, and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations in all duties.
  • Provide proof of valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing with no restrictions (subject to review annually).
  • Demonstrate the ability to: Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, professionals, and clients. Maintain professional people skills and non-verbal communication skills. Communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, in English. Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining control and professional composure and making decisions based on the needs of the program and service population. Maintain intermediate to advanced computer literacy (specifically Microsoft Suite). Be detail oriented and organized. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Utilize a variety of communication systems to provide situational awareness across the response (cellular, two-way radio, satellite, etc.). Perform physical activity such as extensive walking, stretching, bending, and occasionally lifting and/or exceeding 50 lbs. Work extended hours and/or non-traditional hours (Ex. Weekends, evenings, holidays, in austere conditions).
  • Must provide current physical-medical release and provide proof of immunizations, exemptions, or declinations for the following: Influenza MMR Varicella HepB HepA Tetanus PPD, IGRA, or Chest X-ray Meningococcal (preferred).
  • Must successfully pass a scheduled or spontaneous drug screening/background check.
