About the Role

Gateway Rehab Center (GRC) has a dynamic opportunity in Center Township, PA for a PRN Recovery Specialist in our Withdrawal Management department. This position provides information and opportunities for recovering individuals to direct their own recovery and advocacy processes, supporting those with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) to access resources, treatment services, and community support for improved quality of life and sustained recovery.

This position works on Sundays and Mondays from 7am to 3pm.

Responsibilities

  • Provides information and opportunities for recovering individuals to direct their own recovery and advocacy processes.
  • Establishes a relationship with patients that displays dignity and respect as reflected in professional language and appropriate boundaries.
  • Teaches and supports the acquisition and utilization of skills needed to facilitate recovery.
  • Promotes knowledge of and linkage to available services, options, and choices.
  • Promotes the utilization of natural resources within the community, other agencies, and services systems.
  • Arranges referrals to other agencies, community programs, and resources to meet the needs of the patient and family.
  • Facilitates the development of a sense of wellness, self-worth, and identification of unique strengths.
  • Seeks ongoing individual input into services content to address individual needs and goals while supporting and encouraging individual goal planning and internalization of the recovery process.
  • Documents interactions and progress in the patient’s electronic medical record; completes all documentation within the required time frame.
  • Participates in group supervision and individual supervision.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Understanding of and/or personal experience with addiction and recovery (required).
  • If living a life of recovery, must attest to at least 18 months in recovery from substance use disorder.
  • Pass a PA Criminal History Record Check.
  • Obtain PA or State Child Abuse and FBI fingerprinting clearances.
  • Pass a drug screen.
  • Complete a 2-Step TB Test.

Skills

  • Ability to interact with others who are in recovery.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Good computer skills (e.g., MS Office).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional setting.

Work Conditions

  • Substance use disorder treatment center environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Minimal physical demands.
