The Physical Therapist is responsible for a combination of clinical and client-facing worksite support, ensuring all patients receive top-notch musculoskeletal care. This role involves carrying out individualized physical therapy programs, including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals. Additionally, the Physical Therapist supports the client at the worksite by providing body mechanics education, ergonomics and safety information, wellness initiatives, and other non-clinical worksite support.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as part of a care continuum and medical team, collaborating with physicians, PAs/NPs, occupational therapists, health coaches, medical assistants, and ancillary staff.
  • Administers appropriate physical therapy treatments, including therapeutic exercise, therapeutic activities, manual therapies, modalities, and patient education.
  • Plans and executes a thorough, goal-directed treatment program based on patient assessment, ensuring positive outcome measures.
  • Assists with care coordination, ensuring patients seek the appropriate level of care or specialty and follow up accordingly.
  • Supervises and directs Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) in accordance with professional guidelines.
  • Teaches in-home therapeutic exercises and stretches as part of the treatment plan.
  • Documents patient care services promptly and accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols to protect patients and employees.
  • Stays current with professional knowledge and skills by reviewing publications and attending continuing education.
  • Develops physical therapy staff by providing evidence-based practice resources and conducting in-service training programs.
  • Provides injury prevention education and conducts worksite assessments as needed.
  • Addresses ergonomic needs of the client worksite as applicable.
  • Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team to plan and implement the patient’s plan of care.
  • Attends all Marathon Health center training sessions, including EMR training.
  • Identifies community health needs and strategies to address them.
  • Advises on Marathon Health policy within the evolving healthcare delivery environment.
  • Schedules follow-up appointments, screenings, and tests for client company employees.
  • Assists in outreach efforts to target employees at highest risk of developing chronic diseases.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university (CAPTE).
  • Current license from the state Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Physical Therapist.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Understanding of clinical documentation requirements using electronic medical records software in accordance with state, federal, and APTA guidelines.
  • Outpatient experience with adolescent and adult populations.
  • Ergonomic training, certification, or experience is a plus.

  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to present educational materials to multiple levels within a client’s organization.
  • Comfortable working with employees at all levels within an organization, working independently, and with limited supervision.
  • Consistently demonstrates professionalism in communications and relationships with patients, clients, co-workers, leadership, and external partners.

Pay

$43.00–60.00 per hour. The actual offer may vary based on geographic location and the candidate’s years of experience and/or skill level.
