About the role
A Physical Therapist Assistant carries out an individualized program for patients with acute and chronic health conditions to maximize their quality of life and achieve their functional goals. This position works in an outpatient setting focusing on general and orthopedic therapy.
Responsibilities
- Follows the plan of care and performs PTA procedures as allowed by referral to aid in restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing or limiting permanent physical disabilities.
- Assesses patients' needs and status by analyzing evaluated data and interpreting information, identifying age-specific needs and providing care accordingly.
- Affords assistance and participation in the training and support of all team members, volunteers, and students.
- Records patients' progress and reports the results of each treatment to the physical therapist.
- Treats patients through exercise, massage, gait and balance training, and other therapeutic interventions.
- Provides patient education on interventions.
Qualifications
- Education: Program Graduate, Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) or Associates Degree, Physical Therapy Assistant.
- Experience: 1 year Healthcare experience (Preferred).
- Licenses and Certifications: License Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) upon hire (Required), CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 days (Required).
Pay
Hiring range is $38.00 - $42.00/Hourly. Actual pay is determined by program, work commitment, and business needs.
