PRN Pharmacy Technician (Inpatient) - Pharmacy - UH Truman Medical Center (varied shifts per week)

PRN (as needed) position at University Health Truman Medical Center, primarily located at UH Lakewood Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Varied shifts per week, approximately 4 hours per week.

About the role

Responsible for daily maintenance of the drug distribution system. Works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist at all times, participating in all aspects of the inpatient medication use process. Contributes to quality improvement, staff and patient safety, and cultural diversity through department operations and personal performance.

Responsibilities

• Distribute medications from pharmacy to patient care areas
• Perform sterile and non-sterile IV compounding with proficiency
• Repackage medications
• Handle controlled substances properly
• Operate pharmacy automation systems
• Use the hospital electronic health record and other applicable information systems
• Receive and follow direction or instruction regarding tasks and priorities
• Maintain a courteous and helpful demeanor with patients, visitors, and staff
• Lift up to 20 pounds to perform stock work

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Active Missouri Board of Pharmacy license
• Successfully passed the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination
• Verbal communication skills to discuss work issues and tasks with co-workers
• Typing skills to operate computers

Qualifications

• Pharmaceutical work experience and general knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and products preferred
• Previous experience entering information into computers
• Prior pharmacy experience preferred
