PRN Paramedic – Emergency Department

Responsibilities

• Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
• Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
• Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
• Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
• Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
• Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
• Transport patients and specimens.
• Aid in sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy.
• Perform fluid/drug administration.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program
• Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross
• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
• One year of experience as an EMT-P
• Experience in a hospital setting or city ambulance

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program, Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross, International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), One year of experience as an EMT-P, Experience in a hospital setting or city ambulance

Skills

• Full body motion to move and lift patients
• Manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination
• Extensive standing and walking

Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $26.65 Maximum hourly: $26.65
