PRN Paramedic – Emergency Department

About the role

Join the Mentor Hospital team and provide emergency treatment to patients in need. This role requires a strong background in EMS-Paramedic training and current licensure as an EMTP in Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
• Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
• Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
• Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
• Absorb and maintain confidentiality while respecting patient privacy.
• Perform fluid/drug administration.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program.
• Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
• One year of experience as an EMT-P.
• Physical Requirements: Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

Qualifications

• Preferred qualifications include: International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), one year of experience as an EMT-P, and physical fitness to meet the demands of the role.

Pay

Minimum hourly: $26.65
Maximum hourly: $26.65

Schedule

This is a PRN role, working mid-shift/evenings from 3:00pm to 3:30am with availability needed for 11:00am to 11:30pm as needed. Weekends and holidays may also be required.
