Patient Care
- Assists medical and nursing staff with the care and treatment of Emergency patients
- Auxiliary tasks include:
- Greeting and interviewing patients
- Inputting pertinent medical information into the computer system
- Performing and assisting with diagnostic testing and procedures
- Initiating IV, administering oral, IM and some IV medications, performing glucose monitoring, and performing ISTAT testing
- Transporting patients to the ICU and monitoring critical patients
- Assisting with patient flow in the ED
- Performing command center technician duties and monitor tech duties
- Receiving EMS patients and collecting data for initial triage and assessment
- Assisting with patient education
- Responding to Trauma Alert, Code Fast, and STEMI Alerts
- Transporting patients as requested by the RN
- Cleaning patient care rooms according to infection control policies
Core Responsibilities
- Performs functions as delegated by the RN
- Ensures rooms are patient-ready
- Supports patient flow in the ED
- Performs monitor tech duties
- Assists with patient education
- Responds to emergencies as assigned
Required Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED, General Accredited Program preferred.
Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s)
- All certifications required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC-ALS - Amer Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor
- BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support or ARC-PALS - Amer Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS-I - PALS - Instructor
- PARA - Paramedic
Required Minimum Experience
Completion of accredited paramedic program and associated clinical hours. Minimum 2 years experience as a paramedic in the field or in a hospital setting preferred.
